The University of New Hampshire Cycling team has started out the 2012 spring road racing season with a bang, with the strongest start since the team won Easterns in 2007. At the end of the first weekend at Rutgers, NJ, the team finished 4th overall and 2nd in division 1. Last weekend at Grant’s Tomb Criterium and Steven’s Duck Circuit Race the team brought along 28 racers spread across every racing category, for a victorious 1st place finish for the weekend omnium.
Notable finishes at Grant’s Tomb include wins in the Women’s C category (new freshman Betsey Pettitt), Men’s C category (James Kennedy, UNH Cycling vice president), and Men’s B category (Greg DiSanto, with Taylor Smith snatching the 2nd place spot), among many other strong finishes across all categories.
Now the team is in sunny Clermont, Florida enduring and thoroughly enjoying riding 300+ miles over the course of 5 days. On Sunday March 18, UNH will return north stronger than ever to race the Philly Phyler and Philadelphia, PA.
